Tooth Color Filling

  • Tooth Color Filling

When it comes to fixing small cavities and slightly damaged teeth, one of the most reliable methods involves using a filling. Nowadays, tooth-colored fillings made of durable composite resin can be bonded to teeth for a stronger, more natural look. These fillings are easy to apply and are virtually undetectable.

 Sensitivity after filling:

After a filling, there are a variety of post-op sensitivities that can occur after the anesthesia wears off. The tooth may be sensitive to biting, cold air, hot and cold liquids or sweet foods. Some may experience numbness, tingling, and some minor pain around the injection site. These post-opsensitivities will go away within one to two weeks. Until then, try to avoid anything that causes the discomfort. If your tooth is extremely sensitive or your sensitivity does not decrease within two weeks, contact our office.

If the filling is too high, our office will adjust the filling by removing the excess filling material to decrease the pain.

 Do Fillings last forever:

No, Dental fillings will last many years but eventually all fillings will need to be replaced. Constant stress from eating, drinking, clenching and grinding will cause a dental filling to fail. Fillings that have worn away, chipped, cracked or fallen out may leave gaps between the tooth and the filling that can provide an entry point for food particles and decay-causing bacteria.
